Marriage Counseling in Justin, TX

Marriage Counseling for Couples in Justin, TX

Are you and your spouse stuck in the same argument on repeat? Have you grown more distant than you'd like to admit, or found yourselves trying to recover from a betrayal that shook your trust? Marriage can bring real pain, but a hard season doesn't mean your marriage is failing — it usually means the relationship needs focused attention and a path back to connection.

If you're searching for a marriage counselor near Justin, you're likely dealing with communication that keeps breaking down into conflict, growing emotional distance, or a breach of trust you're trying to work through. You're not alone.

I'm Jonathan Karber, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with couples in the Fort Worth/Denton County area since 2005. Read more about my approach to marriage counseling and the issues couples bring to me — from conflict and parenting disagreements to affair recovery and pornography-related concerns.

Serving Justin Without the Justin-Sized Wait

Justin has grown fast, and finding a counselor who isn't booked out for months may be a challenge. My office is in Keller, about a 20–25 minute drive down Hwy 377 from Justin — a manageable trip for a regular counseling routine, especially compared to possible longer waitlists at practices closer to Denton or Flower Mound.

For couples who'd rather skip the drive altogether, online video sessions are available and work well for many of the same concerns addressed in person.

A Closer Look at What We'll Work On

Two of the most common reasons couples reach out are breakdowns in communication and the aftermath of an affair or breach of trust — and they often require different starting points.

When communication has broken down, couples frequently find themselves stuck in the same argument no matter the topic — one partner pursues, the other withdraws, and neither feels heard. Untangling that pattern is usually the first, most concrete win in counseling.

When trust has been broken — whether through an affair, secrecy, or pornography use — the work looks different. It starts with creating enough safety for honest conversation, then moves toward understanding what happened and, when both spouses are willing, rebuilding trust step by step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer counseling for couples in Justin, TX? Yes. While my office is based in Keller, I welcome couples from Justin and the surrounding area, and I've designed both in-person and online options to make that easy regardless of the distance.

What can I expect in the first session? The first session is mostly about understanding your relationship's history and the specific challenges bringing you in. I'll ask about how you met, what's changed, and what each of you hopes to get out of counseling. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — my goal in that first meeting is simply to understand where you are and start mapping out a plan forward together.

Do both spouses need to attend? It's optimal if both spouses attend. Working with both partners together makes it much easier to identify the underlying dynamics and interaction patterns that keep a couple stuck in an unhealthy relational "dance" — the back-and-forth cycle where one partner's reaction feeds the other's, and vice versa.

That said, if only one spouse is able or willing to attend, progress is still possible. We can focus on identifying that one person's behaviors that are contributing negatively to the dance. When one partner makes meaningful, positive changes, it  can create space for the possibility of a new, healthier dynamic to emerge — even before the other spouse is involved.
